Historical Society Memorial Donations
The Patterson Township Historical Society has accepted memorial donations almost since its beginning. These donations are usually given in memory of a specific person and not usually designated for a specific purpose although that would be possible. The donor's name and the name of the deceased are listed in "The Gateway," the societies publication, in its next edition.
The Historical Society, established in 1968, uses funds to further preservation and research into the Patterson area and West Side history. It was established for that purpose by a group of history minded residents. The Society later established a museum in the Center Building. Except for some desk space used by the Chamber of Commerce, the building owned by the City of Patterson, is devoted entirely to Historical Society exhibits and records storage. In general funds are always needed for the Societies ongoing efforts to preserve the area's history and artifacts.
The Society also has a publication with each issue being devoted to a particular subject. You can read about this publication at clicking this link: The Gateway.
