Community Awareness-Action Committee re:
Westley Tire Fire

"Got it out, move em out, find out!"

Next Meeting: Monday
November 29th, 1999, 7:00 PM
Patterson High School CAFETERIA
The meeting will be preceded by a
Health Clinic from 6-? PM

The Clinic will have a county nurse for consultation. We'd like to see everyone who has experienced symptoms they think are related to the tire fire to attend. We'll have a questionnaire to fill out. It's important to record these symptoms to get the full picture to the county on the health effects of this catastrophe.

See directions to location under Maps below.

Now that the fire is out, this committee of Stanislaus County residents are committed to continue to work on making sure the site never becomes a fire hazard again and is cleaned up and doesn't become a hazardous waste dump  This committee is also working to provide information on air quality and health issues. Later the committee will pursue why this disaster was allowed to happen and will look at ways of preventing it from happening again.

A message from Karen Cox, chairwomen (11-13-99)
We are set for the 7th action meeting and as we continue the Health Clinic.  A strategy meeting was held mid week and details of our position were worked out.
We will be presenting this document to various agencies in order to continue to apply pressure to see that the cleanup is done properly and doesn't leave a dangerous hazardous waste site.
We still need citizens participation in order to ensure that this effort doesn't falter and we wake up a few years from now and wonder why we again failed to prevent yet another disaster from happening.  We can't afford to turn our backs and let the same officials drop the ball again.
Please, each person visiting this Web site, tell 5 concerned people who want to do something to come to the meeting or contact me to be put on our list..
